Sharon Jones, owner and founder of Guardian Pet Sitters®, is a born pet lover. Her love of animals was evident from all the pets that shared her family's home. This included dogs, cats, rabbits, fish and many others. Our family always treated our pets "as part of the family." It was this love of animals that gave rise to Guardian Pet Sitters® in the early 90s.
Before Guardian Pet Sitters® traveling for my corporate job left me with the dilemma of what to do with my furbaby and best friend, Precious, a Shih Tzu. I found leaving her at home was the ideal solution for her!

A graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, Sharon is a savvy businesswoman with more than 18 years of business experience and continued business training. With the idea of a pet care service firmly entrenched, Sharon set about developing a business plan for Guardian Pet Sitters®. Her mission? To provide the absolute best pet care in the Dallas area while maintaining the highest ethical standards. Unable to find any schools that taught professional pet care, she set about educating herself by attending seminars throughout the United States given by the National Association of Pet Sitters (NAPPS) as well as locally held seminars on animal husbandry. And although her company is now a thriving business, she continues her quest for excellence by attending various seminars and by offering seminars conducted by local veterinarians and animal behaviorists to the pet care professionals.

It is the professional pet care providers who provide their services for Guardian Pet Sitters who are the heart and soul of the company. The company's structure ensures that the pet care professionals are able to concentrate on caring for your pets, while leaving the day-to-day business operations to Sharon. This ensures a more relaxed, less harried approach to caring for your pets, making sure they get the individual attention and love they crave.
Because the welfare and comfort of your pet is our number one concern, the pet care providers who contract with Guardian Pet Sitters® are carefully selected and must go through an extensive screening process. In addition to exhibiting a heartfelt love of animals, pet care providers must also exhibit dedication and enthusiasm, honesty and a level-headedness that will allow them to handle any emergencies that may arise while caring for your pets. Credit, criminal, and driving history background checks are performed on all candidates, so you can rest easy knowing that your pet and home are being cared for by a trustworthy and reliable animal lover.
One of the many characteristics of Guardian Pet Sitters® that makes it unique is that all of the pet care professionals are encouraged and expected to continue their animal husbandry and in-home pet care education. Guardian Pet Sitters® offers quarterly seminars on animal health, behavior techniques and various topics related to in-home pet care presented by local veterinarians, animal behaviorists and other professionals. Additionally, each pet care professional is offered an Emergency First Aid class annually.
